Deanestor Furnishes London’s Largest PassivHaus Student Accommodation

Deanestor Celebrates Completion of London’s First Major PassivHaus Student Housing Development

Deanestor is thrilled to announce the successful completion of Palmerston Court in Battersea, the first large-scale PassivHaus student accommodation in London. This landmark development sets a new standard for sustainable student living in the capital.

The project has transformed the site, replacing four original buildings with a modern, energy-efficient complex that includes 850 bespoke student living spaces. Deanestor provided high-quality, custom-made fitted furniture for the entire development, from non-ensuite rooms to studio apartments. Additionally, 162 kitchens were fitted across the site, featuring 17 distinct designs tailored to meet the needs of the diverse student population.

Urbanest’s Project Manager Daniel Baylis complimented Deanestor’s fitout, commenting: ‘Deanestor have successfully completed our Battersea project providing high quality bedroom and kitchen furniture throughout the scheme. We have worked with Deanestor on a number of our projects and have been impressed with the support and services provided. The furniture looks fantastic and is of good quality and design.’

By accommodating 850 students in purpose-built, sustainable units, the development is expected to alleviate pressure on the local housing market, potentially freeing up to 340 homes that would otherwise be temporarily occupied by students. Additionally, the influx of students is forecast to inject around £4.2 million into the local economy annually, providing a welcome boost to businesses in the area.

Sustainability is at the core of this project, which follows the BREEAM framework. In support of local carbon-neutral goals, Palmerston Court is a car-free development, promoting greener living and helping reduce the area’s carbon footprint. Deanestor is proud to have played a key role in this pioneering development, delivering bespoke, sustainable furniture solutions for a project that is set to benefit the local community, economy, and environment!
